CCJ - collecting money owed

Obtaining a County Court Judgment against a defendant in the Thames Valley may not mean the debt is paid.

Some defendants will pay up as soon as judgment is entered, But others will ignore the judgment and not pay.

Collection by County Court Bailiffs can be a lengthy process and is not always successful.

High Court Enforcement

An alternative option for collection for judgments over £600 is to transfer the county court judgment to the High Court for enforcement.

Enforcement Agents working under the direction of a High Court Enforcement Officer have greater powers than County Court Bailiffs to collect the judgment.

There are two costs with using High Court enforcement:

  • £71 court fee to transfer the judgment to the High Court.
  • £90 compliance stage fee (£75 + vat).

When enforcement is successful both these costs are collected from the debtor.
